Business Toolkit for Cycle Tourism

Northumberland is a cyclist’s dream. We have beautiful scenery and relatively quiet roads, along with a wonderful network of both family-friendly and more challenging cycle routes. This means our county is attractive as a destination for cycle holidays and also that our general visitors can enjoy cycling and mountain-biking as part of their holiday experience.

Did you know?

- Cycle Tourists on average spend 9% more each per trip*

- Cycle Tourists also disperse into smaller, more peripheral and rural areas, bringing much needed economic benefit for local economies~

Your business can help improve the welcome we provide to cyclists and at the same time share in the economic benefits cycle tourists bring.

Our new Toolkit for Cycle Tourism, developed by Cycle Northumberland, gives you tips and ideas on how to become a truly cycle friendly business.

More information on cyclists in Northumberland can also be found in our regular cycle survey, and in the Recreational Cycling and Cycle Tourism in Northumberland report.

Northumberland Tourism is working with partners across the county to promote cycling to our visitors. The Northumberland Leisure and Tourism Cycle Group brings together partner organisations who aim to improve our cycle experience and encourage more leisure and tourism cycling.
