Northumberland brought to life in new audio trails

Berwick epic england 600x450Market towns in Northumberland explored through digital story telling from Geotourist and Northumberland Tourism

Northumberland Tourism have teamed up with award winning GPS-audio tour brand, Geotourist, to create three, five point audio trails exploring Northumberland market towns Hexham, Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed.


Northumberland Tourism are one of the nine Destination Management Organisations to be involved with phase one of Epic England, a new project from Geotourist for 2018.


Geotourist is an open source platform and app that delivers audio tours to real-time visitor locations and provides an immersive audio guide of their current location. Residents and tourists can enjoy these for free by downloading the app or visiting the mobile site.


Exploring the history and heritage of Northumberland market towns Hexham, Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed, the new audio trails offer a new and exciting way to discover the county.


Cris Brown, Business and Marketing Manager at Northumberland Tourism said: “We are proud to be part of phase one of Epic England, a digital story telling app bringing the stories of Alnwick, Berwick and Hexham to life. Free to download and easy to use, the app can be listened to on location or prior to visiting.


“Tourism is vitally important to Northumberland and we are constantly seeking new ways for visitors to discover more about Northumberland. The app offers visitors a real time, immersive way to learn more about the fascinating history of our market towns.”
