North East Rural Awards launched to recognise the best of the region's countryside

Awards set to recognise the best of the rural North East are being launched by The Journal and their sister paper, The Chronicle.

The first ever North East Rural Awards will take place at Linden Hall in Northumberland this summer, with a range of categories highlighting the best of the region’s rural people and businesses.

Revamped Hadrian's Wall Website Goes Live!

The Hadrian’s Wall website has been redeveloped making it easier for visitors to plan their journey and orientate themselves with the whole of the World Heritage Site.

Travelling is very much of the experience of visiting Hadrian’s Wall and the new site aims to make it easier to access and understand the major Roman attractions along the length of the Wall.

Festival of the Coast

Summer on the Northumberland Coast is an exciting time with the Tall Ships coming to Blyth from the 26th to 29th August.

We wanted to ensure that visitors know about all the events taking place right along the coastal area of Northumberland so have created a ‘Festival of the Coast’ page on celebrating the beauty, attractions, communities and maritime history of Northumberland’s 64 miles of rugged North Sea Coastline.

Thousands of members have signed-up to the Tall Ships Regatta VIP Club and there are excellent opportunities for businesses.

The first VIP competition had hundreds of entries and you could grow your customer base by offering discounts and prizes to subscribers.

Cycle Friendly Event

The Inn Collection Group is inviting tourism businesses in Northumberland to a cycle tourism event to help them gear up their facilities for cyclists.

The group's cyclist friendly Lindisfarne Inn is hosting its free ‘Welcoming Inn Cyclists’ event on Thursday May 12 to mark the completion of their cyclist-friendly project - and share best practice with other businesses to help put Northumberland on the UK cycle tourism map.
