Northumberland Tourism receives funding from Northumberland County Council (£130,000 in 2011/12) to provide support to Northumberland's tourism industry.
This support includes:
representation and advocacy in national and sub-national networks for Northumberland's tourism industry and businesses
expertise and advocacy to ensure that the interests and expectations of the tourism industry and businesses are represented within relevant county strategies and work programmes
interpretation of visitor, business trends and economic impact research for Northumberland's tourism business, attractions and other related sectors
the provision of up to date online advice and guidance tools for tourism business
tourism database maintenance (Desti.ne)
brand building and advocacy for an independent spirit
bid writing to obtain external funding for: high profile marketing campaigns; product development initiatives that improve the visitor experience; and initiatives that support the tourism industry (e.g. businesses, attractions and other related sectors) and growth within Northumberland's visitor economy
marketing delivery and return on investment data
production of a regular newsletter to businesses and proactive communications / engagement with key businesses
monitoring the progress of Northumberland's ATMap and updating and communicating achievements and the impact of initiatives
